F-Gas registered engineers who repair, maintain and install cold rooms, freezers and refrigerated display cabinets for businesses across Tyne and Wear, Northumberland, County Durham, North Yorkshire and East Yorkshire, with 24/7 emergency call-outs.
We repair, maintain and install commercial refrigeration for restaurants, pubs, hotels, shops and pharmaceutical storage across the North East and Yorkshire.
When a cold room or freezer fails, stock is at risk within hours. So we answer emergency calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our engineers have more than 30 years' experience and are REFCOM registered for F-Gas work on refrigerant.
We repair all major makes of commercial refrigeration, including cold rooms, walk-in freezers, refrigerated display cabinets, and upright and counter fridges and freezers. Common faults we fix:
While you wait for us: keep doors closed, write down the temperature readings and when you noticed the problem, and move high-risk food or medicines to working storage if you can.
Most breakdowns start as something small: a blocked condenser, a worn door seal or a slow leak. Regular maintenance catches these early, keeps running costs down and gives you records to show your equipment is looked after. A maintenance visit typically includes:
We offer maintenance contracts quoted for each site, with visits planned around your opening hours. Systems that need statutory F-Gas leak checks get them on schedule, and we keep the records for you.
We install cold rooms, condensing units and refrigerated display cabinets, from a single cabinet to a full kitchen or shop fit.
Our engineers work from ATE House in Carlin How, near Saltburn-by-the-Sea, and our office in Whitby, covering:
We also repair and service air conditioning and heat pumps, so one team can look after all your systems.

Yes. We answer emergency calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, because a failed cold room or freezer puts stock at risk within hours.
Keep the doors closed, write down the temperature readings and when you noticed the problem, and move high-risk food or medicines to working storage if you can. Then call us.
Common causes are a dirty or blocked condenser, ice on the evaporator, worn door seals, a faulty fan, or low refrigerant from a leak. Check the doors are closing properly and nothing is blocking the condensing unit, then call an engineer.
Usually a defrost fault, a door left open or a poor door seal letting in warm, damp air. Low refrigerant can also cause it. Ice blocks the airflow, so the unit struggles to hold temperature until it is fixed.
At least once a year. Equipment in busy kitchens, or units that run hard in warm spaces, often benefits from visits every three to six months. We recommend a schedule based on your equipment and how it is used.
Yes. Contracts are quoted for each site, with visits planned around your opening hours, F-Gas leak checks where they are needed and records of the work done.
Yes. We install cold rooms, condensing units and refrigerated display cabinets. We survey the space first, then send a written quote that sets out what's included.
Often, yes. But if the system is over 10 years old and needs a major repair, such as a new compressor, replacing it can work out cheaper over time. We'll explain the options so you can decide.
